Wilson Hill Academy is pleased to announce the names of students who achieved honors on the 2014-15 National Classical Exams. Fifteen Wilson Hill Academy students earned honors on the National Latin Exam (NLE), six on the National Mythology Exam (NME), and a whopping twenty-three on the brand new National Latin Vocabulary Exam (NLVE). A special shoutout belongs to Grace Oliver who earned the Latin Exam Trifecta, medaling on the NLE, NCVE, and NME, earning a perfect score on the latter. We are so proud of our smarties! They are listed below.
Additionally, in 2015-16 each student at Wilson Hill Academy will have the opportunity to take all applicable classical exams (including the National Classical Etymology Exam) with the exam fees already included as part of class registration.

The National Latin Exam is comprised of 40 multiple-choice questions and generally includes questions of grammar, translation, derivatives, Roman history, mythology, life, geography, oral Latin, and mottoes. Over 149,000 students from all fifty states and thirteen foreign countries took this exam in 2013. Exams levels available are: Introduction to Latin, Latin I, Latin II, Latin II, Latin III-IV Prose, III-IV Poetry, Latin V, and Latin VI.

The National Mythology Exam (NME) is comprised of 30-50 multiple-choice questions (depending upon grade level) and is based on Greek and Roman mythology (with a heavy emphasis on d’Aulaire’s Book of Greek Myths) and two sub-tests that differ from year to year. Over 10,000 students from the United States and several foreign countries annually take this exam. Exams are available to students in grades 3-9. Students in grades 10-12 may also take this exam but must achieve a perfect paper in order to earn any credit.
