Grammar Latin A
In this introductory Latin course, grammar school students embark on the adventure of learning Latin and discover how fun it can be. Not only do these young students begin to learn Latin, they also trace the roots of their own language, simultaneously expanding their English vocabulary and developing a deeper understanding of English grammar. As they study Latin, students train their minds to think systematically and begin to consistently practice the scholarly habits that make learning everything else easier and more productive.
Topics include: Latin vocabulary and English derivatives, first and second verb conjugations, first and second noun declensions, first and second adjective declensions, labeling sentence patterns A–D; identifying and labeling parts of speech and parts of the sentence, including subject nouns, verbs, direct objects, prepositions, objects of the preposition, predicate nouns, predicate adjectives and adjectives; and reading and translating simple Latin sentences.
Homework Habits: Students typically spend 1-2 hours a week memorizing vocabulary and completing grammar exercises.
