Wilson Hill K3 Reading Level 1
Reading Level 1 gives parents the tools and confidence to teach their children how to read successfully. Through weekly 90-minute meetings, a Wilson Hill K3 mentor guides parents through 32 weeks of parent-directed lessons. The mentor provides proven curriculum and teaching methods, answers questions, addresses challenges, and offers accountability and encouragement. This course uses the Canvas Learning Management System to manage all weekly assignments and resources.
Topics include: the common letter sounds, beginning, middle and ending sounds in words, three-letter short-vowel words and short-vowel words with consonant teams and blends, long-vowel words with the silent-e, 60 common sight words, reading decodable phonics books, printing letters of the alphabet using proper form, writing short-vowel words from oral dictation, and copying sentences and verses using correct letter formation.
Suggested Grade Level: Kindergarten; 5-6 years old
Note: You may register yourself (the parent) or your child for this course, but the live session will be for the parent. In either case, please enter the graduation date of your child (e.g. “K” in 2024-25 translates to “2037” for an expected high school graduation). Due to system limitations, you may be charged a Student Records Fee if you enter your own (past) graduation date. If this does happen, it will be refunded.
